White Lightning: Episode 2 by Lexi Blake
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Hidden agendas, shady characters, heartbreaking events. Episode 1: Tempest Rising was an introduction into a troubled community of people sent reeling from the death of one of their own. Episode 2: White Lightning digs deeper into not just the repercussions of the accident but the inner workings of two marriages with secrets of their own and the bad choices of one woman. I did not like the Senator. He has smarmy written all oven him and I don't believe his wife is as blind as she pretends to be, she just doesn't care. The way he preys on younger, weaker women makes him a sociopath to me. Dakota needed to get over blaming others and start facing the choices she made and stop relying on others for her happiness. The Rising Storm series is a guilty pleasure that is worth experiencing from the beginning. I received an ARC of White Lightning by Lexi Blake in exchange for an honest review.

Episode 3: Crosswinds by Elisabeth Naughton is so far the most scandalous of the series. Hurtful secrets start to come to light. Bad decisions start to be regretted. The impact on the children is revealed. In the wake of her brother Lacey is acting out and has become manipulative. So unlike herself. She sets her sites on the one boy that belongs to someone else. Each book in this series is better than the one before. This one hurt my heart because the whole time I'm reading it, I am thinking can the parents be so wrapped up in themselves that their not giving the children the guidance and support they need. From the time I learned of this series there was no doubt in my mind that I had to check it out. I am only into the first book and hooked already. This is a series that keeps you guessing. Full of secrets, surprising revelations and sensational storylines, Tempest Rising is a definite winner. Anytime the first installment starts with a shocking twist there is no choice but to stay tuned. Will be front and center for episode 2. Received an ARC of Tempest Rising: Episode 1 by Julie Kenner in exchange for an honest review. An exciting idea fueled by wonderful writers.
